P
rimary Care The PLATT service was set up in October 2001 in response to the Governments National Service Framework for Mental Health policy, to increase capacity in Primary Care for people experiencing mental health problems. Our team works exclusively with Primary care but have close links with other mental health services such as Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Day treatment services, Hospital based and Voluntary services. We provide assessment across a broad range of mental health problems. Following this assessment we either offer advice on self help, short term evidence based treatment or referral onto specialist or voluntary services as appropriate to meet the identified needs of the individual. We also provide Liaison and training to other members of the primary health care team to advise staff and improve their knowledge of mental health issues with a view to increasing capacity in primary care.
