"Having trained in the North East of
England, I worked as a Staff Nurse in Special Intensive Care, nursing patients
following Major Abdominal surgery. I then travelled to Jersey where I worked for
a couple of years, specialising in Accident and Emergency Unit. It was here that
I acquired my suturing skills and trauma care experience. I moved to Yorkshire
in 1974 where I held the post of sister in Accident and Emergency at
Pinderfields General Hospital. Moving into Midwifery in 1976. By 1986 I
expanded my nursing skills to community nursing and worked at Crofton and
Sharlston Medical Practice as a District Nurse. I was offered a post as Practice
Nurse in 1988 and have held this position to present. I am also the Clinical
Nurse Specialist in Minor Illness and Triage.
In December 2001 we started a daily triage service which includes telephone
calls, assessing problems, giving appropriate advice, offering appointment with
GP/myself or other Health Care Professional. My role as Triage Nurse also
extends to working part time for the GP on Call out of hour’s service. I am
responsible for the management of a daily Minor Illness Clinic. This includes
medical history, examination and appropriate treatment and follow up.
I have
two grown up children both living away from home. My hobbies include ; sailing,
camping, a bit of DIY and gardening. Oh! and lots of adventures."
