Out of Hours

The out of hours doctors service is provided by all Wakefield and Pontefract GP's collectively via Local Care Direct (LCD). This service operates at all hours the practise is closed. This is also true for the TARGET afternoons which happen once a month. (See News Page)

Remember that Local Care Direct is an out-of-hours service. They will NOT know any test results, they will NOT deal with routine enquiries, they will NOT deal with problems that can wait until we are open again. They will also NOT normally provide you with a script for any medication you have run out of, unless they feel it is an emergency.

Remember that when you call Local Care Direct, they do not know your full medical history as we do. If you have any pre-existing medical problems, it would be good to tell them. It is also useful to have a list of your medication or the actual packaging of the tablets with you when you phone.

Remember that as always you will only get a home visit if the doctor or nurse agrees with you that there is a need for this. If you need to be seen, you will be invited to come to the Trinity Medical Centre in Thornhill street in Wakefield (Opposite the Job Centre),

or in the Local Care Direct base in Pontefract which is in Pontefract Hospital. (at the same side of the road as the A&E department, but via the Main entrance NOT the A&E entrance)

Telephone

08444 993 995 This is the surgery number.
Out of hours you will automatically be switched through to Local Care Direct
