15/8/2003 Saturday ClosureAll surgeries in the West-Riding of Yorkshire will be ending their Saturday opening hours. The last day of opening for these surgeries is Saturday 30th August 2003. This is a consequence of a national program to try and reduce doctors working hours. In some area's the Saturday closure has happened a while ago (as for example in York) and some other area's will be stopping Saturday work in the near future. GP's and Hospital Consultants all work more than the maximum amount of hours allowed under the working time directive. The same is also true for most hospital junior doctors. The Saturday morning emergencies will be handed over to the out-of-hours doctors service. The dispensary at Sharlston will also be closed on Saturday from this date. The last day of Saturday opening is Saturday 30th August 2003
