Fawzia
is from Sierra Leone in West Africa where her husband works as a consultant. She
came to England with her daughter and after working in Barnsley for a while
decided to train for general practice in Wakefield. She came here first and
completed her training at New Southgate Surgery. After qualifying I believe she
did some locum work and also worked for a time at Warrengate Practice. I do not
know where she is currently.

Anis
is from Batley and graduated at Leeds. He lived in Batley with his wife who was
also a GP registrar. Following completion of his training at Crofton and
Sharlston he took up the post of part-time salaried partner for a few months.
However his wife was expecting their first child and Anis left to have more time
with her and worked as a locum around the area. They have now moved to Leicester
and have two children. I last heard from Anis in the summer of 2003, when he was
working as a salaried partner at a prtactice in Leicester covering a mainly
Indian community.

Handley
Feb. to June 2000
From
the North Midlands, Louise graduated at Leeds. She worked part-time as she was
expecting her first baby and left for maternity leave in June. She and her
husband lived in Ossett but have since moved to Derbyshire where she completed
her vocational training. When I last heard from her she was planning to settle
and work in the North Midlands and had applied for a job in Staffordshire.

Born
in Leipzig, Eastern Germany,15th July 1967, where she was educated. She
graduated in Medicine 1994 and worked for 12 months in Leipzig before coming to
England. She worked for 6 months in Teesside before commencing GP training in
Wakefield. She worked initially at Tingley, completing her training at Crofton
and Sharlston. She then went to Canada with her husband who was from Vancouver.
They settled in Alberta where Katrin obtained a job in medical practice near
Calgary. I received a letter earlier this year letting me know she now has a
baby boy, Liam, and has returned to her native Leipzig.
Arif
Hashmi
Feb. to Aug. 1999
Born
in Pakistan, 28th September 1958, where he gained his medical degree at
Peshawar University and did his house jobs in Karachi. He came to England in
1987 and initially specialised in orthopaedic surgery. In 1997 he decided to
train for general practice doing his first six months at Horbury and completing
it here at Crofton and Sharlston. He is married to Marie, an orthopaedic nurse,
and lives in Sandal. He works at Friarwood Surgery at Pontefract as a partner.
He and Marie have four children.
Musrat Kahn
Aug.1998 to Feb. 1999
Born in Walthamstow, London
of Pakistani parents. She was educated in London and met her future husband at
medical school. She returned with him to his native Bradford and commenced
vocational training at Wakefield. She then returned to her family in London to
have a baby and completed her training there. I believe she has since returned
to Bradford.

Born 10.1.1966, in
Berlin, a German National who
received his education in England where his father worked in the diplomatic
corps. He graduated in medicine at
Kings College, London, in 1990. He initially
pursued a career in surgical specialities,
particularly ophthalmology, before deciding on general practice. He is married
to Rachel, a dermatologist at Leeds, and the couple have
two sons. He lives in North Leeds and is currently working as a partner at a
practice in Horsforth.
Alfonso Suarez

Born in
Bilbao
where he was brought up and educated, his father is surgeon in that city. His
uncle, Adolfo, was the first prime minister of liberated Spain in 1976. He
graduated from
Bilbao University in 1992 after
which he did his National Service. He had heard from his friend Anton that
Crofton and Sharlston was the
place to train for general practice and
consequently he headed for Wakefield. He completed his training at
Lupset in 2000 when he returned to Spain. He is
married to Ana and at the time of his return to Spain the
couple were expecting their first child. I believe he is working with his
father in law in Leon.

Born in Buckinghamshire
15.9.1967 where he was brought up and educated, the son of a GP whose family
originate in Sri Lanka. He
graduated in medicine from Leeds University in 1992.
He initially showed an interest in cardiology before commencing vocational
training. He is married to Tracy, a nurse, and the couple has two sons. After
completing training he joined the practice at Horbury
and is a clinical assistant in cardiology at Pinderfields
Anton
Mandiola

Born in
Bilbao
in the Basque region of Spain 13.12.1965 the son of a
gynaecologist. Brought up
and educated in
Bilbao, he went to university
there graduating in medicine in 1991. He was encouraged by his father to broaden
his experience by working in England. He did his house jobs in
Middlesbrough
and commenced vocational training in that area and later in Kent. He came to
Crofton and Sharlston to complete his training for
general practice before returning to
Bilbao
in Autumn 1996. He later married Isobel a solicitor
in 1997 and when I last saw them in 2001 the couple were
expecting their first child. He practices in
Bilbao
working both for the government health department and his father in laws
practice.
Fiona O’Grady (Murphy)
Feb. to Aug. 1995 and Feb. to April
1996
Born
30th July 1968 in Dublin, daughter of an Irish
GP. Educated
in that city before studying medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons in
Ireland.
She graduated in June 1992 and gained postgraduate experience in Dublin and
Wexford. She came to Wakefield with husband, Mick Murphy, who was doing a
surgical rotation at Pinderfields. On completion of
vocational training she joined the GP practice at Maybush
where she remained a partner until the summer of 2003. She then decided to take
time out to rear her four children, Mick is now a
consultant urologist at Pinderfields.
