Wakefield NHS Walk-in Centre offers fast and convenient access to local NHS advice, information and treatment.   The Walk-in Centre helps people whose busy lifestyle, or circumstances and particular needs make flexible and accessible services important.   It doesn’t replace local GP or hospital services - it complements existing local services.

 

Wakefield NHS Walk-in Centre offers you healthcare advice and treatment without having to make an appointment, take time off work or rearrange your day.

 

At the Walk-in Centre you can expect:

 

·         seven days a week service

 

·         consultations with an experienced nurse

 

·         access to health advice and information on other local services

 

·         advice on how to stay healthy

 

·         information on local out-of-hours GP and dental services

 

·         information on local pharmacy services

 

·         treatment for minor injuries and illnesses e.g. strains and sprains, coughs, colds and flu-like symptoms.

Get the right treatment

 

·       If you are at home and would like advice, call NHS Direct on 0845 46 47, which is a nurse-led telephone service offering confidential healthcare advice and information, 24 hours a day.

 

·       Ask your local pharmacist for advice, from sprains to stomach upsets.  Pharmacists are qualified to give you expert advice without an appointment.

 

·       Visit the Wakefield NHS Walk-in Centre to see an experienced nurse for information, advice or treatment for minor illness and injuries.

 

·       Call your surgery for an  appointment with your GP or Practice Nurse.

 

·       Go straight to the hospital A&E department if you have a more serious injury.

 

·       Call 999 for an ambulance for very serious emergencies such as loss of consciousness, severe chest pain, serious accidents or severe blood loss.
